This week’s timetable from The Living Room, 20-24 Feb 2012

HI ALL,
HERE’S THIS WEEK’S TIMETABLE.

Just to let you know that ART OF LIVING, our neighbours here in The Living Room, are holding an information evening this Friday at 6.30pm. All are invited to learn how to increase energy, release stress and cultivate joy and health as the basis of one’s life.
There is no Nutrition for the Nervous System this Wednesday but it will resume the following week, and Allison Sleator’s singing class is also postponed this week and likewise will resume next week.

Enjoy the pancakes!

YO, HAPPY ST. VALENTINES DAY!

Connect

Connect. Click to enlarge

I’d like to blow our LOVE whistle to let you know that in The Living Room this week, we are celebrating our own version of mundane and mystical LOVE by renewing Ursula Browne’s “CONNECT” course.

This course is like a Valentine celebration for our own native intelligence system.

The seven different chakras, or wisdom levels represent the milestones of the inner life and can be accessed through meditation, reflection, conversation. As part of a chivalric love of self, this course is for anyone needing extra cherishing whilst either facing an uncertain future or navigating an exacting present. All are welcome to come and join in at 10.00am on Thursday 16th and begin the courtship with lady wisdom and the cherished self.

Please click to enlarge image for details.

And so, for less courtly matters, why not see what else is going on in The Living Room during the week. I’d like to invite again any one needing to put a focus on their day to THE HOURS which takes place every Monday Morning at 10.00am, also on Mon Allison Sleator is conducting singing classes at 5pm, and all are welcome to come and find their voice.

With Cupid’s best wishes,
Christine

Hello There One and All!

The Living Room Map

The Living Room Map Click to enlarge

I’m delighted to let you know of three NEW additions to our timetable this Springtime! All three hold a focus of building inner resilience and strength and all three aim to help the Spirit relate with greater ease to the mind and body.

On Wednesday Donal O Leary will present a four week course on “Nutrition for the Nervous System: Health, Nutrition and Wellbeing”.
This course will offer an overview of the principles and pillars of health – how in cleaning and nourishing the body, we connect it to back to the healing intelligence of nature. By any reckoning there is much to learn of our nutritional habitat, and this is an exciting first step in gathering that wisdom.

Also starting this Wednesday ( 1- 2pm) Mari Kennedy will begin a Mindfulness Meditation entitled “Arriving at your own door: Coming home to yourself in 2012″. This is probably the year where we find out who we really are, and knowing our strengths and weaknesses will benefit our collective response to our uncertain times. This too, is a four week course open to all interested in connecting to their essential self.

Finally, and by an innovative extension, we continue on Friday with “Mindful Meditation through Movement“. Anna Fiona Keogh offers this creative approach to developing basic mindfulness skills such as awareness and acceptance through moving.
“Through our moving bodies, we meet ourselves. We sense, we feel, we think, we act. We hold in, we let go, we feel light, we feel heavy. We breather. We are still.”

Again, are welcome to attend this course starting this week.

So, now, that’s the good news for this coming week! Next week I will alert you to renewing both courses: “The Hours” starting on Monday 6th Feb with Jacqueline Kelleher and Mary Dowd, and “Connect” with Ursula Browne starting 16th Feb.

Until then let me wish you a wonderful ST. BRIGET’S DAY and hearth entry into Spring.

Christine

THE SHEER JOY OF IT ALL….

Hello there Everyone,

Welcome to a 2012-friendly Living Room – hope you dig our post Neanderthal template.

Just to remind you that this month’s Friday@The Living Room is our salute to Joy which we reckon is the foundation for Resurrection, Right-living and Resilience. With that in mind, we hope you might join us, not in a meeting – but an in an eating – and help us close our four part series asking, “Where is the Love?”.

Being presented with the contemporary search for three R’s (as above), this series of conversations contemplated how we can discern our own desires (blaming others is toooo 2011), what we might let go of, and what we can open up to to, to jig along a brighter future.

So, if you’re free, and what to gather with the Exceptional (every last one of us) why not come on down and shake the happy tree from 7pm to 9.30pm this Friday, and help us close the series? You might bring some food to share, and on the night raise your thumbs with us to Brigit, and all other blessed luminaries who ever shone in the dark.

I’d really, really, really thank David Korowicz for co-piloting the series with me. Also I’m forever grateful to the pure generosity of Dolores Wheelan, Ivor Browne, Anne Kenny, Joey Feely, Allison Sleator, Donn Brennan, Gillian Gavin, Francis Valoor, Jim and Joanne Gallagher for setting up and shining out their lights for us.

Also to let you know, Allison Sleator is offering singing classes here in The Living Room on Monday 5.00pm-6.30pm.

Let me hope then, that you might be able to com’on down this Friday, and polish up your big and little joys so that they might shine down all the ways of 2012,

In joy,

Christine

Hey – We’re Really Open!

Hello there One and All!

I hope the year has started well for you, and that the strengthening light brings with it a strengthening hope.

Having done some of our spring cleaning last week, we are open now in earnest, and I invite you once again to come and sup on the silence with us. Indeed, speaking of supping, we will be starting our new Nutrition for the Nervous System, on Wednesday 1st of February at 10am – 11.30am, and all are welcome to sign up for this 4 week course. Also – and gaily extending the culinary metaphor – I’m very happy to welcome back Dr. Donn Brennan (Founding President of the Ayurvedic Practitioners Association ( Indian medicine) in the UK, and director of the European Herbal Practitioners Association.) to come and partake on our first ‘EATING’ – a meeting with food – at 7pm – 9.3pm on Friday 27th January. The theme is JOY and the emphasis is on resurrection, right relationship and resilience, what could be tastier? More of this next week.

So for now, let’s climb back into the reflective saddle, and taking up the reigns, gallop into the future.
Why not include us in your new year resolutions?!
With best wishes,

Christine

Happy New Year One and All!

Happy New Year One and All!

And, still let me wish you a ‘Happy New Year’ though it’s already a week old. As co-creators time with Father time and Mother nature, I hope the pathways in 2012 are lit with grace and guidance and lead to all the low lying fruit in the garden.

Speaking of low lying, we’re keeping things slow and low around here until Monday 16th January when we resume a full program – though, Tai chi and yoga will go ahead as usual next Friday.

We have an exciting Springtime Program this year with meditations/conversations on many of the most pertinent aspects of our lives. More information on this next week.

Just to say that Friday@The Living Room will be held on January 27th (last Friday) of this month as opposed to the third Friday – simply because of the month that’s in it.

With warm wishes for now,

Christine

Christmas Greeting Everyone

I’d like to wish One and All a graced Christmas and a guided new year. The star of Bethlehem (we are now scientifically assured) carries a similar atomic structure to our own. As distant relatives, let me make a second wish for its continued solicitude, and its everlasting beckoning towards a newly born, (and newly changed), gurgling Reality. Indeed, why not a Hooray for all of Earth’s newborns, and the light which surrounds them? And, actually – now that we’re on a roll, let’s have a cheer for the seasonal solstice, and whoopee up for the new life, new dreams, new joys and new promises of a new year.

Allison's lunchtime poster

Okay, so in the meanwhile, I’d also to invite you to a Lunchtime Concert hosted by Allison Sleator and Friends. This will take place between 1pm – 2pm on Thursday (the solstice, you remember) and is open to anyone who wishes for some sweet nourishment of spirit and soul. Please feel free to tell your friends and foes. (See poster)

After that, we have all kinds of schemes, plans, classes, meditations and revolutions planned for the new year. As a taster, I’ll mention our “Nutrition for the nervous system” which will help you get over the depths of your excesses, and begin at beginning, all over again. Kick off – 1st week of February. All are most welcome to what is going to be a six week course (buckets of carrot smoothies) which will make your hair curl and blood straighten – or is that the other way around?

Anyhows, let me wish you, in earnest, a sacred, delightful, and meaningful Christmas, and energizing, hope-filled and creative new year.

In the spirit and season of love and humility,

Have fun!

Christine.

The Wisdom of Death – and Season’s Celebrations @TheLivingRoom

Hello Everyone,

Here, once more, is the timetable for the week.

I’d like to mention again that Fridays@The Living Room is being held on this Friday16th December. This is our third (in a series of four) contemplative conversations, and this month we are contemplating the wisdom of death.

The Wisdom of Death

The trinity of love, death and life are the mysteries of human existence. We share them with all that exists. Each unfolds the others, and to know all three is our birthright as human beings. In the first part of the evening we welcome Ivor Browne, Dolores Whelan and David Korowocz to allow us an appreciation of death – how it holds life, and how life holds it. In the ensuing meditation, we hope to contemplate on its wisdoms and gifts. Death has much to teach us now – much of what we know is changing, and how we practice letting things die will offer a great deal to our ensuing vision.

All are welcome to come along, and please spread the word!!

And, THEN, afterallofthatwards I would also like to invite people for a warm tasty tipple and nibble as part of our lively Christmas celebrations!!

Our lively Christmas celebrations ALSO include, Allison Slatter and Friends holding a lunchtime concert here in The Living Room on Thursday 22nd of Dec at 1pm – 2pm. Those who were here for Allison’s concert two weeks ago know that high, refined and pure singing and playing is as good a way of ushering in the light as it gets!

Looking forward to seeing you on Friday,

Christine.
